March and April brought programs of Shore Conversations where we focused on story telling about traditional Eastern Shore professions. Farming, Watermen, Education and Family Business. These conversations were made possible through a grant from Virginia Humanities to preserve oral history.

Outdoor events remained the norm as spring came around SpringFest 2022 was a fun outdoor celebration of neighbors and friends initiated by our local neighbors and friends! Music, kids activities and food brought out 100 plus folks who may not have gathered in months or even years.

The Resident Artists at the School initiated a new event this year - Wine Wednesdays at the School. Every FIRST Wednesday from 4-6pm studios are open for sipping, and shopping. The event caught on and is quite the happening thing to do on the first Wednesday each month. Most participants then strolled in to town to support our town businesses and restaurants.

We love the Ice Cream Social and Patriotic Band Concert every July 3rd. Onancock Business and Civic Association does a grand job of organizing it and where else could 300-400 friends celebrate our town and Independence day eve than on the grounds of HOS?

September brought the Creekside Crawl 5K and Kids Puddle Jumper Trail Run. Fun was had by all!

September brought Public Lands Day, a celebration of our open green spaces on September 24. This event featured kids, adults, dogs, jugglers, family fun, an appreciation of our environment and community.

In November, we celebrated our 6th Annual Champagne & Oyster Tasting (rumor has it – our best ever).

In November we also hosted the ES Virginia Land Trust ‘Picture the Shore’ Exhibit.

The holidays in Onancock kicked into high gear in December with Mrs. Claus visiting resident artists for gifts, the bustling Holiday Artisans Market, OBCA Homes Tour, music, and theater downtown, all topped off with a fabulous Onancock Parade!
